Digital methods of learning have not only changed the way of acquiring education but also has democratized education, due to which any student can acquire education regardless of any discrimination, from any part of the world.

Nawada, a village surrounded by the natural beauty of Dehradun where Ms. Anita Naithani, who works as a teacher at Rajkiya Prathamik Vidyalaya Nawada is trying to give a new perspective to rural education. Once constrained and limited by traditional methods of teaching, the classrooms of the school have changed into a hub of curiosity and creativity. 

This simple technological update has been a game changer for this rural school in Nawada. Math, a subject that students sometimes find boring, has turned into an engaging puzzle-solving activity. With vibrant visuals and interactive videos, concepts once deemed insurmountable became accessible, even enjoyable. “Even the most challenging topics now feel interesting,” said Ms. Naithani, reflecting on the power of technology to turn rote learning into meaningful understanding.    

EdIndia’s, In-Service Teacher Education Program and Pragyan app has brought technology into classrooms with its low-cost smart classroom in 222 schools in three states as of March 2023. More than 710 teachers are being capacitated on the blended teaching learning methods with the use of technology and local context & resources for making classroom more engaging and interesting for 16000 plus students. Pragyan App supports teachers with the help of simple and easy to use teaching Ideas, worksheets and videos to build their object matter expertise and teaching skills.

The Ripple Effects

This transformation wasn’t just confined to the walls of her classroom. In-Service Teacher Education and Pragyan app brought profound changes:

  • Boost in Student Confidence Interactive learning tools encouraged students to participate actively, fostering self-assurance in their abilities.
  • Improved Attendance  With lessons that felt more like immersive experiences, students started coming to school not out of obligation but genuine interest.
  • Efficient Teaching Equipped with new tools and training, educators could now address individual learning needs more effectively, all while managing time better.

Ms. Naithani emphasized how the EdIndia’s In-Service Teacher Education Program alongside the Smart TV rollout equipped her and other teachers with the skills to leverage technology effectively. “The classroom no longer feels burdensome; it’s a place of discovery,” she added.

But perhaps the most remarkable change lay in how these advancements engaged the wider community. Parents, who once saw school as a distant formality, began noticing the excitement their children brought home. The enthusiasm was contagious, drawing the community closer to the school’s mission.

Ms. Naithani expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the EdIndia team for their unwavering support. “Our school and students are immensely thankful,” she wrote in her testimony, celebrating the organization’s role in making learning accessible, enjoyable, and impactful.

This journey is a testament to the idea that meaningful change often starts small.
