Teacher Education
Program

To ensure that every child in the country has access to quality education, it is essential to ensure that those who have the responsibility to impart education are prepared to do the same.

Besides the roles and responsibilities of other stakeholders, teachers enjoy a place and role of prominence as facilitators for such a level of education at the school level. There have been significant efforts over the years from various government and civil societies for improvement in quality of teacher training for in-service teachers. However, and important link to ultimately improving the quality of teachers in India is building the capacity of Pre-service teachers.

At the entry level, Indian Teacher Education system faces a peculiar problem. While there are over 10.6L Teacher posts lying vacant, majority of them lie vacant because the CTET pass percentage is only 13.7%.

Sterlite EdIndia Foundation has been closely working with Teacher Education Institutes and DIETs across the country to address the problem of quality of teachers by building the capacity of pre-service as well as in-service teachers.

Data Analytics Support
Program

The Indian education system is one of the largest recipients of data inputs related to various academic and administrative aspects of education. With the advent of digitization, Department of Education has initiated efforts to collect data and record the same.

However, efforts to initiate data analysis have remained nascent. With the advancement in data analytics and technology, administrators can make well-informed academic and administrative decisions.

Given the wealth of data and its potential use, Sterlite EdIndia Foundation has been working with state governments to support them in making informed decisions.

Community Empowerment Program There has been significant national and international research to prove that when parents get actively involved in education, children try harder and achieve more at school. Parents who help and encourage their children to learn at home, and who help develop positive attitudes toward school, contribute to the personal growth and academic success of their children. However, in a developing country like India with an overall literacy rate of 72.98% (as per census 2011), it is estimated that over 121 million children out of 250 million school going children in India are first generation learners. This means about 50% of our school going children may not get be getting active support from their parents. We at Sterlite EdIndia Foundation have been constantly working with parents and communities from remote and Tribal areas to increase their awareness and build their capacity so that they can become active stakeholders to improve quality of children education.
Creating a culture of data-driven decision making

Our Approach

Data-driven decision making in the Indian Education System can significantly improve student learning outcomes. To enable this, the administrators at various levels (school, block, district, state as well as national) need to be supported in being able to effectively utilize the data collected. EdIndia supports the administrators in this process by providing them end-to-end solution for data management and visualization, to sharing insights and recommendations. Administrators are provided training and capacity building support in being able to effectively manage, and use this data for taking decisions.
