Top Parent – A Free EdTech Solution to Leverage Parental Engagement in Early Childhood Development
The Top Parent App is a one of a kind free mobile solution that is designed to address the needs of low income communities by equipping parents with multimedia tools to help them support their child’s academic and socio-emotional development at home. Worldwide research has proven that when parents are actively engaged, children continue to learn and thrive.
Top Parent provides families with an array of multimedia content on a weekly basis. These include engaging videos for children, parent-facing videos, gamified worksheets, monthly assessments and a fun family quiz. Launched in India in March 2021, the solution has garnered over 85+K downloads, with ~40+K monthly active users in a short span of time.
Preliminary data indicates that users are highly engaged with the app, with 70+% users doing more than one activity on the app. Overall, the completion rate for the activity is also very high at ~90% across videos, worksheets and the quiz features. While the exact impact on establishing correlation between parent engagement and learning outcomes will be validated via an RCT currently in progress, the learning engineering at the back end is helping us track learning progression and support user journey via a variety of well-designed nudges delivered via WhatsApp, In-App and IVRS.
The App’s goal is to reach 1Mn families by 2023 in India and we are actively seeking partnerships with other non-profit organizations and the government so that we can help children most in need to get ready for school and for life.
