Even a pandemic can’t control the power of education – 25,000 under-privileged students from government schools learnt to ‘Build Robots’ Online.

Robotex India works to bring Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Coding & STEAM Education to government schools in urban, tribal and rural areas. Their main goal is to unite global expertise aiming towards impacting technological innovation advocacy on building future-ready and pandemic-proof systems educating students on co-curricular, fit for the 21st century.

The flagship programs – ‘Girls who Build Robots’ and ‘Robotex for Rural’ – are aimed at advocating for a more gender-equal society and equal opportunity for all. The key objective behind the programs is to instill life skills as well as technical skills hand in hand with foundational literacy in school students which, in turn, prepares them for participation at the championships.

The pandemic’s adverse effect on the education system, including extended school shut downs and the lockdown has led to far-reaching economic and societal consequences. The disadvantaged children and their families were impacted the most as it threatened to interrupt their learning. However, the looming uncertainty on the reopening of schools did nothing to curb the learning zeal and enthusiasm of students pan-India who were being coached by Robotex on STEM, Robotics, AI and coding.

The organization educated 25000 students on future skills, enabling them to showcase their innovative projects. In four states, including, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, and Telangana, Robotex conducted virtual workshops for students from government schools approximately 11,000 students ensuring that learning of students wasn’t compromised due to the global health crisis.
The greatest challenge was the fact that the students, with whom the organization works with, do not have access to laptops or computers, wifi is unheard of too and they have limited access to mobile data. Their households have limited hours of electricity, a single mobile device between the entire family. The passionate team at Robotex did not give up and instead, set up robust low bandwidth LMS, conducted live lessons, and endless hours of mentoring. Our mission at Robotex India is to unite global expertise aiming towards impacting technological innovation advocacy on building future-ready and pandemic-proof systems educating students on co-curricular, fit for the 21st century. Addressing the disconnect between degree and skills, bridging Digital Divide to build a solid foundation for future generations. Safeguarding their career goals initiating avenues towards increased employment and entrepreneurial options.
