In August 2023, Charu Debbarma, a resident of Borakha ADC Village in West Tripura, became a part of the Mother Group initiated by the EdIndia Foundation. The significance of this group lies in fostering a sense of community and parental engagement within the Shibnagar Borakha Higher Secondary School. Charu, a mother of two children attending the school, recognized the crucial role mothers play in shaping the upbringing of their children.

Feeling a deep connection to the Mother Group, Charu sensed the need for active parental involvement in the school’s development. In September 2023, the group collectively decided to undertake a cleanliness drive at the school level. During this initiative, while cleaning the school water filter, Charu was shocked to discover its deplorable condition, filled with dirt and worms. Swiftly taking action, she reported her findings to the headmaster, expressing her discontent and voicing her concerns about the prevailing discrepancies in the school.

This incident prompted immediate action from the school authority, as they called upon the school helper and admonished him for neglecting the cleanliness of the filters. They emphasized the importance of regularly cleaning the filters and ensuring they were filled with clean water. Since then, notable changes and improvements have been observed in the school.

The story of Charu Debbarma highlights the pivotal role that mothers play in their children’s upbringing and the significant impact they can have on the development of the school. It underscores the importance of community involvement in ensuring the effective functioning of the educational institution. EdIndia Foundation plays a crucial role in promoting and facilitating the collaboration of parents and community members to guarantee the proper functioning of the school. It recognizes that the school is not only the future of individual families but also the nation as a whole. By initiating positive changes, such as cleanliness drives and fostering active parental participation, the foundation is actively contributing to the betterment of the educational environment and, consequently, the future of the community and the nation at large.
